Luigina's husband, Vergilio, picked 8 crates of apples from his orchard before 8am the morning after his 85th birthday. He'd drive his Vespa each way with 2 crates strapped on the back. I helped him spread hay on their dining room floor to ripen the apples. They move to their upstairs kitchen in the cooler months.
